Iran Reopens Hormuz Strait, Trump and European Leaders Welcome Move

Iran has announced that the Strait of Hormuz is now fully open for commercial shipping, following a ceasefire deal related to Lebanon. The reopening marks a significant de-escalation in the region, as the strait is a critical waterway for global oil shipments.

US President Donald Trump thanked Iran for the move and said he expects a peace deal with Iran to be reached soon. European leaders, including French President Emmanuel Macron, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, and Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, also welcomed the reopening. Macron called for the strait to remain permanently open.
