Syrian government and Kurdish-led forces agree to immediate ceasefire

The Syrian government and the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) have agreed to an immediate ceasefire on all fronts. The deal comes as Syrian government forces were advancing on the SDF stronghold of Raqqa and had reportedly captured oilfields and a dam in the area.

Following the agreement, Syrian forces have begun entering the city of Raqqa. The ceasefire aims to halt the fighting between the two sides, which had recently escalated.
