Al Jazeera is a Doha-based international news network founded in 1996 and operated by the Al Jazeera Media Network in Qatar. Its English-language headlines centre on the United States, Iran, Israel, Palestine and the wider Levant, with politics and security making up most of the mix and economy and society a smaller share. Overall its stance reads as critical of Israel and of United States policy under Donald Trump, and sympathetic toward Palestine and Lebanon.
Al Jazeera's headlines are consistently critical of Israel, Benjamin Netanyahu, Donald Trump and the United States, with Israel drawing the sharpest and at times most hostile tone. Palestine and Lebanon are treated sympathetically, while Iran and Ali Khamenei are covered neutrally to respectfully. Russia and Vladimir Putin are mostly neutral with occasional skepticism, and Ukraine is covered neutrally to sympathetically. The largest shift is Syria: neutral early in the year, sympathetic toward the new Syrian authorities by late summer. The stance is measured from headlines toward countries and persons; it is not a rating of accuracy.
