Israel strikes Lebanon after deal, orders troops to prepare for extended stay

Israel carried out drone strikes in southern Lebanon just hours after a U.S.-brokered framework deal was signed between Lebanon, Israel, and the United States. The strikes killed at least one person and injured two others, according to reports. Hezbollah condemned the new agreement, while Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu said Israel will remain in southern Lebanon until Hezbollah disarms.

Despite the deal, the Israeli military also ordered troops to prepare for an extended stay in Lebanon, and a pilot withdrawal from some areas was reported. The strikes and ongoing military presence show that the framework agreement has not yet led to a halt in hostilities on the ground.
