Israel and Iran exchange direct missile and air strikes

Israel and Iran have engaged in a direct, large-scale military exchange. The Israeli military (IDF) conducted air strikes against targets in Tehran, including a Basij headquarters, and issued evacuation warnings to residents in parts of the Iranian capital. Simultaneously, Iran launched its heaviest missile attack yet on Israel, using solid-fuel ballistic missiles and cluster munitions that caused damage in central Israel, though no injuries were initially reported.

The Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) claimed responsibility for the missile barrage. In response, the IDF stated it continued waves of strikes against IRGC targets in Iran and claimed to have killed a commander of the Iranian Quds Force's 'Imam Hussein Division'. Air raid sirens were activated in areas like Eilat as new Iranian missile launches were detected.
