A multipolar order is the legitimate and overdue alternative to US hegemony and a unipolar world.
A multipolar world order is the subject of this position, which holds that it is the legitimate and overdue alternative to US hegemony and a unipolar world. Its advocates speak of unilateralism, imperial pressure and double standards, defend a sovereign right of states to choose their own course, back BRICS and the Global South, and call for reduced dependence on the dollar.
The position appears in four disputes: Iran in regional and international confrontation, the Western Balkans political contest, Serbia's contested government, and the role of external powers in Latin America, where it favours partnership beyond the West. Between 10 and 17 outlets voice it in each, and Russian outlets figure among them.
It is answered by the view that Balkan elites, above all in Serbia, face a genuine accountability deficit and that protests against them are legitimate. The sides part on whether outside backing protects sovereignty or shields governments from scrutiny. Recent events show Russia urging Iran to remain in the Non-Proliferation Treaty, Serbia seeking a gas-deal extension after a call between Vucic and Putin, Vucic resigning to run for prime minister, and Iran resisting widened US sanctions with Chinese backing.
