India is in talks with Iran, hoping to secure safe passage for its ships, particularly six LPG tankers, through the Strait of Hormuz. The country's foreign minister, S. Jaishankar, expressed optimism that the discussions would ease the route.
India has stated it is not having bilateral discussions with the US about forming a combined military force to reopen the strait. Analyst Fareed Zakaria told NDTV it would be very difficult to open the vital waterway without Iran's acceptance.
