Russia invites Zelensky to Moscow for peace talks, Kyiv seeks temporary truce

The Kremlin has invited Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to come to Moscow for peace talks, stating it is the only acceptable venue for a potential meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin. Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said a truce proposal from Zelensky is unacceptable to Russia.

Zelensky has expressed hope that Russia will honor a deal not to target Ukrainian cities for a week. In a separate comment, Zelensky thanked President Donald Trump, saying his past efforts had helped protect human lives.
