IRGC vows to teach US an ‘unforgettable lesson’

In Iran and the Gulf on 20 July 2026, the IRGC pledged to teach the United States an “unforgettable lesson” as Iran signalled a return to talks. Egypt and the UAE condemned Iranian attacks on Kuwait, including a power and water desalination plant, and on Bahrain. President Trump warned that Iran will “pay many times over” for every US service member killed, as mediators pushed for a new ceasefire.

France's foreign minister Barrot said two French diplomats in Iran were subjected to an “extremely serious act of intimidation”. Israel's public broadcaster reported that Trump asked Israel not to join any military confrontation with Iran.
