Columbia student detained by ICE is released after meeting with Trump

A Columbia University student was detained by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents. She was released after Zohran Mamdani, a New York state assemblyman, met with President Donald Trump to ask for help in her case.

The student, Ellie Aghayeva, was reportedly detained in her dormitory. Her release followed the intervention by Mamdani, who brought the situation to Trump's attention.
