Trump asks Japan and other countries to send ships to Strait of Hormuz

President Donald Trump called on Japan, South Korea, China, and other nations to send warships to help keep the Strait of Hormuz open for shipping. He later appeared to backtrack on this request.

In response, Iran's Deputy Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said Iran is prepared to allow and help Japanese-linked vessels pass safely through the strait.
