Israel Says 170 Gazans Named as Journalists Were Militants

In October 2026, the Israeli military said that 170 people in Gaza who had been named as journalists were members of Hamas or Palestinian Islamic Jihad. The IDF published what it described as evidence linking them to the two groups. The military also said it killed two men it identified as participants in the October 7 attacks in Gaza strikes, including one it said abducted a hostage from Be'eri. It added that 70 operatives were killed in Gaza last month, 17 of whom it said took part in the October 7 attacks.
