Vietnam holds national election with Communist Party dominating candidates

Vietnam opened polls for its National Assembly and local council elections, with the Communist Party fielding nearly 93% of parliamentary candidates. Voter turnout was reported at over 93% after nine hours, with some sources claiming it reached 99.64%. The Communist Party secured nearly 97% of assembly seats, while 18 non-party members were also elected to parliament.
