Instagram launches new features and faces scrutiny over teen safety

Instagram is launching a TV app for Google TV devices and adding a feature to share Threads posts directly to Instagram Stories. The company also announced it will start alerting parents if their teenage children search for self-harm or suicide content on the platform.

Mark Zuckerberg testified in a trial about Instagram's impact on young people. A Meta survey found 19% of young teens on Instagram report seeing unwanted nude images. In a separate incident, a man in Russia was arrested for having the Instagram logo on his website.
