Samsung launches new foldable phones and smartwatches

In late July 2026, Samsung unveiled its latest foldable smartphones, the Galaxy Z Fold 8, Z Fold 8 Ultra, and Z Flip 8, along with the Galaxy Watch 9 and Watch Ultra 2. The new devices are set to be available starting August 7. The foldables feature design updates and, in the Ultra model, a 200-megapixel camera. The smartwatches focus on improved battery life.

The company also reportedly considers a multibillion-dollar investment in the French AI startup Mistral, which is seen as a European contender in the AI race. This potential deal signals Samsung's interest in expanding beyond hardware into artificial intelligence.
