US and Iran Exchange Strikes as Strait of Hormuz Tensions Rise

In mid-July 2026, the United States launched fresh airstrikes against Iran as tensions over the Strait of Hormuz escalated. The US strikes, including daylight operations, came after Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) claimed attacks on US military facilities in Bahrain and Kuwait as part of what it called Operation Nasr-2.
