Spanish hotel chains leave Cuba after new US sanctions

Three major Spanish hotel chains—Meliá, Iberostar, and Barceló—are completely withdrawing from Cuba following new sanctions imposed by the Trump administration. Meliá will cancel all contracts and services on the island by July 24, ending more than 36 years of operations. The move marks the end of three decades of Spanish dominance in Cuba's tourism sector. The sanctions, announced by President Donald Trump, forced the companies to exit the Cuban market.
