France puts 67 departments on orange alert for heatwave

In France on 11 August 2026, the weather service Météo-France placed 67 departments, including Paris and its inner suburbs, on orange heatwave alert for Wednesday.

Le Monde later gave the figure as 78 departments on orange alert for Wednesday, with temperatures of up to 40 °C expected. Heatwaves have also pushed air conditioning to the top of French property wish lists.
