Russian foreign minister criticizes US and comments on world leaders

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov gave a wide-ranging interview where he criticized the United States. He accused the U.S. of 'cynicism' and 'backstabbing' for its actions toward Iran while diplomatic talks were ongoing. Lavrov also said Russia is aware of talks between the U.S. and Ukraine, while three-way consultations involving Russia are currently on hold.

Lavrov commented on several world leaders' relationships with Russian President Vladimir Putin. He said Putin and President Donald Trump have 'respect' for each other. He also discussed Putin's relationship with French President Emmanuel Macron. In response, a French official criticized Lavrov's television appearance, saying he was able to 'roll out his propaganda' on French airwaves.
