German Chancellor Merz discusses military aid and fighter jet project

Chancellor Friedrich Merz, has made several statements on defense and foreign policy. He said a decision on the troubled FCAS fighter jet project, a joint venture with France and Spain, is expected in the coming weeks.

Separately, Merz discussed potential German military support for Ukraine. He said he is considering the idea of deploying German troops, the Bundeswehr, and suggested Germany could join a multinational force operating from outside Ukraine's borders.
