Russia Summons Japanese Envoy Over Disputed Islands

Russia summoned Japan's ambassador after Tokyo protested Vladimir Putin's visit to the disputed island of Etorofu. Russia's foreign ministry called Japan's claim to the islands illegal and rebuked the envoy. The dispute concerns the islands known as the Northern Territories in Japan and the Kuril Islands in Russia.
