Israel expands military operations in southern Lebanon after soldier killed

Israel has ordered an expansion of its military invasion into southern Lebanon. This follows the death of a 19-year-old Israeli soldier, Sgt. Liran Ben Zion, who was killed by a Hezbollah anti-tank missile in the area. Several other Israeli soldiers were also injured in separate incidents there.

In a significant escalation, Israeli forces also conducted strikes on targets in Tehran, over 1,600 kilometers away. The military said it dropped more than 80 explosives on weapon production sites linked to Iran's IRGC. The operations in Lebanon are described as a return to a 'security zone' approach against a resurgent Hezbollah.
