Putin suggests Russia could immediately stop sending gas to the EU

Russian President Vladimir Putin said Russia is considering an immediate halt to its natural gas supplies to the European Union. He suggested the gas could be redirected elsewhere, though reports note there are significant logistical hurdles to doing that quickly.

Following his remarks, the price of natural gas in Europe rose sharply, jumping about 8% to over $650 per thousand cubic meters. His warning has also fueled calls from some within the EU to reconsider sanctions against Russia.
