US senator warns Venezuela of possible military action over cooperation

US Senator Marco Rubio told a congressional hearing that the United States could use military force to ensure Venezuela's cooperation. He defended the Trump administration's policy, stating a political transition in the country would not be fast or easy, but that the US hopes to turn Venezuela into a strong ally.

In response, Venezuelan official Delcy Rodríguez said Venezuela would seek to resolve differences with the US diplomatically. Rubio's comments came during a discussion where he also contrasted the situations in Venezuela and Iran, calling regime change in Iran 'far more complex'.
