Typhoon Bavi Nears Japan's Okinawa as Landslides Kill 16 in Philippines

Typhoon Bavi is approaching Japan's southwestern Sakishima Islands in Okinawa Prefecture, prompting high alerts. The storm is expected to bring heavy rain and winds, with maximum gusts of 60 meters per second forecast and 40 meters per second already observed on Miyakojima. In the Philippines, landslides caused by the typhoon have killed 16 people in Mindanao. Taiwan and southeastern China are also bracing for the storm.
