Pakistan carries out airstrikes on Afghan cities after border attacks

Pakistan's air force carried out airstrikes on the Afghan cities of Kabul and Kandahar. The Pakistani government described the strikes as an 'open war' in response to what it called 'massive attacks' from Afghanistan.

Afghan forces had earlier attacked targets inside Pakistan. The exchange of fire follows months of clashes along the shared border between the two countries.
