Trump and Canadian leader clash in speeches at Davos forum

At the World Economic Forum in Davos, President Donald Trump and Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney gave speeches that directly criticized each other. Trump repeated his past idea of the U.S. 'owning' Greenland, criticized Canada and Europe, and called the war in Ukraine 'a bloodbath'. He also said Canada should be 'grateful' for U.S. defense.

Carney, in his speech, spoke out against Trump and criticized what he called a U.S. rupture of the world order. He argued the 'rules-based order' wasn't real. The Canadian ambassador to the U.S. also responded to Trump's comments. Carney left the forum without meeting with Trump.
