US and Iran tensions rise over Strait of Hormuz and Kharg Island

The United States is reportedly preparing military options and deploying more troops in the Middle East, while Iran is fortifying its positions on Kharg Island. This comes as both sides focus on the strategic Strait of Hormuz, a critical waterway for global oil shipments.

A former US military commander noted that opening the Strait would be a major task if it were closed. The US Central Command also confirmed the death of an Iranian naval commander from the IRGC, Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps.
