Chile nominates former president Michelle Bachelet for UN secretary-general role

Chile's President Gabriel Boric has officially nominated former Chilean President Michelle Bachelet as a candidate to become the next UN Secretary-General. The nomination has received support from other Latin American countries, including Brazil and Mexico. The election for the position is scheduled to take place in 2026.
