Ukraine: Security

During April 2026, Ukrainian forces conducted a series of strikes against Russian military and energy infrastructure. In Crimea, a Ukrainian drone strike reportedly damaged a Russian S-400 radar system. In the Black Sea, Ukrainian naval and drone attacks damaged a major oil terminal in Novorossiysk and struck a Russian missile frigate. Separately, a Russian Su-30 fighter jet crashed in Crimea, killing all 29 people on board.

Russian forces continued their campaign of strikes against Ukrainian civilian areas. A massive drone and air assault on the port city of Odesa killed multiple people, including a mother and a child. In response to Ukrainian operations, the Russian government has accused Ukraine of terrorism, framing strikes on Russian energy facilities as illegitimate criminal acts rather than wartime actions.
