New Zealand
New Zealand is a unitary parliamentary democracy with coalition governance, a small open economy built on trade and agriculture, and the standing of a middle power that stresses diplomacy, norms and regional cooperation. Its security rests on partnerships rather than independent power projection. The issues that recur here are cost-of-living and housing pressures at home, exposure to major trading partners, and the strain that geopolitical competition puts on its alignment choices in the Pacific. This page follows New Zealand's news, politics, economy and security month by month, with the standing conflicts explained.
