Sudan in May 2026: the most important developments in security
In May 2026 the security news on Sudan was dominated by drone strikes on Khartoum airport. Sudan accused Ethiopia and the United Arab Emirates of orchestrating the attacks, which ended months of relative calm in the capital. The strikes hit the airport for a second day, and shelling was also reported. Ethiopia and Sudan traded accusations over the attacks.
Separately, a doctors group said five people were killed in a drone strike on fuel stations in southern Sudan.
