Daily brief
Tens of thousands of people marched in London on Saturday in two rival protests, one pro-Palestinian marking Nakba Day and the other a far-right, anti-immigration rally led by Tommy Robinson. The protests came face-to-face in parts of the city, with a heavy police presence deployed to keep them apart, and dozens of people were arrested. In one incident, a pro-Palestine supporter was reported to have threatened to “behead Jews one by one” in east London.
Thousands of officers were deployed as crowds gathered for the London protests (ongoing coverage).
