Violent clashes between rival guerrilla factions in Colombia resulted in at least 27 deaths, causing a significant rise in internal tensions. International

The most significant development was the escalation of tensions between Colombia and the United States. Donald Trump publicly suggested the U.S. might launch a military operation in Colombia, a statement he reportedly repeated directly to Colombian President Gustavo Petro. Petro responded by declaring Colombia's readiness to defend itself, even stating he was prepared to "take up arms" if necessary. In a related economic move, Ecuador imposed a 30% tariff on Colombian goods, citing a lack of cooperation on security issues. These combined military threats and new trade barriers created major external pressures for Colombia.
