Horn of Africa

The Horn of Africa, made up of Somalia, Eritrea, Djibouti and Ethiopia, is a geopolitical corridor between the Red Sea, the Gulf of Aden and the Indian Ocean, close to major maritime chokepoints. Low-income economies, displacement and political fragmentation make it high-risk, while foreign military presence reflects global trade and security interests. Internal conflicts, maritime insecurity, negotiations over port access and the realignment of relations between neighbouring states are the standing issues. This page holds news, politics, economy and security from the Horn of Africa, month by month, with the standing conflicts explained.
